Associated infrastructure

As part of the project to build the first nuclear power plant, associated infrastructure will also be developed in Pomerania – a new national road, modernized and new railway connections, a power substation along with the transmission network, power connection and a Marine Off-Loading Facility (MOLF). These investments are being carried out by entities specialized in such tasks, namely: the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) (national road), PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. (rail lines), PSE S.A. (transmission networks), Energa-Operator (power connection), and the Maritime Office in Gdynia (MOLF).

National Road to Nuclear Power Plant

The new connection will increase the capacity of the transport system in the region, relieve local roads, and shorten travel time to the power plant. The national road project is divided into two tasks:
• Task 1: Lubiatowo – Provincial Road 213
• Task 2: Provincial Road 213 – S6 Expressway
The total length of both sections will be approximately 26 km. The investment is being carried out by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). Details of the investment are available at: https://lubiatowo-s6.pl/

Railway Connections to the Nuclear Power Plant

To ensure rail access to the nuclear power plant, the modernization of existing railway lines and the construction of new ones are planned. Railway lines No. 229 and 230 will be rebuilt on the sections Lębork – Łeba (approx. 31 km) and Wejherowo – Choczewo (approx. 35 km). A new railway line will also be built on the Choczewo – Steknica section (approx. 30 km), along which a railway stop near the power plant is planned. The Łeba railway station is also planned for expansion. This will provide rail access not only to the power plant but also to several coastal towns. The investment is being carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A.

Marine Off-Loading Facility (MOLF)

The MOLF (Marine Off-Loading Facility) will be used for unloading oversized components and large-scale materials and equipment, necessary for the construction and operation of the nuclear power plant, which will be transported by sea. The structure will be approximately 1 km long. The investment is being carried out by the Maritime Office in Gdynia.

Power Grid Substation

To enable the operation of the nuclear power plant, it is necessary to transmit power from the facility; therefore, the construction of a power substation and power lines is required. The power substation will be located in the village of Biebrowo, in the Choczewo municipality. The investment is being carried out by PSE S.A.

Power Connection

The connection being built by Energa-Operator will supply electricity to the power plant construction site during the crucial phase of the investment. Ultimately, after construction is complete, it will become the connection ensuring power supply for the facility’s own needs and backup power.
