Statement regarding the schedule of the project on the preparation of the first Nuclear Power Plant build in Poland

The Company is conducting work, together with its Technical Advisor, the AMEC Foster Wheeler company, on the revision of the assumptions and possible optimization of the general project schedule, involving, inter alia:

  • elaboration of a new approach to and schedule of site investigations and environmental surveys, in the framework applied after the termination of the agreement with the WorleyParsons company;
  • development of the legal framework of the Integrated Proceedings and the elaboration of the approach to the Proceedings and stages thereof;
  • dialogue with the potential technology vendors on technical, market, procedural and legal issues related to the Integrated Proceedings;
  • devising assumptions for support mechanisms designed to ensure the economic profitability of the project and the elaboration of the concept of project financing.

Presentation of the final conclusions of the analyses carried out, in connection with the necessary updating of the general schedule provided under the Polish Nuclear Power Program (PNPP) will take place in the first quarter of 2016 in the form of an appropriate report addressed to the Ministry of Economy, after obtaining prior corporate approvals. This sequence of actions ensues from the provisions of Art. 108 of the Atomic Energy Law which establishes the statutory obligation to draw up a report on the execution of the PNPP by 30 June 2016, and to update the Program itself (including the schedule) on the basis of the conclusions from that report.

The project work currently carried out by the Company focuses on the primary tasks of the pre-development stage, i.e., until the Decision in Principle is granted, in particular, on obtaining the key administrative decisions in accordance with the binding regulations and provisions in order to achieve the following intermediate milestones:

   

2nd half of 2015 

  • submision of an application with the General Directorate for Environmental Protection for issuing a Decision on Environmental Conditions and an application for the defintion of the scope of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report (together with the PIS – Project Information Sheet)
  • commencement of the Integrated Proceedings
2016
  • start of the site investigations in their full scope
2017
  •  indication of the preferred location and commencement of the elaboration of the Environmental Impact Assessment Report and Location Report
2018
  • obtaining the general opinion of the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) on the planned organizational and technical solutions
2019
  • conclusion of the Integrated Proceedings
  • uobtaining the Decision on Environmental Conditions  
  • obtaining the Location Permit
  • obtaining the Decision in Principle
