On 07 Feb. 2013 PGE EJ 1 sp. z o.o. concluded the contract with the Consortium composed of WorleyParsons Nuclear Services JSC, WorleyParsons International Inc. and WorleyParsons Group Inc. The contract signed pertains to the performance of site characterization works and licensing support required in order to complete the first Polish NPP build project led by PGE EJ1. The first Polish NPP is to generate approx. 3000 MWe.
The Consortium of WorleyParsons Nuclear Services JSC, WorleyParsons International Inc., WorleyParsons Group Inc. has been selected as a result of the public procurement procedure conducted by PGE EJ 1 sp. z o.o. „At this stage of the project execution process, this is the most important contract that has been concluded. In fact, conclusion of this contract is a real breakthrough as it shall result in the selection of the final site to host the first Polish NPP” – said Aleksander Grad, President of PGE Energia Jądrowa SA. Site characterization works will be performed in two sites simultaneously: in Choczewo and Żarnowiec sites, which have been identified by the Investor in 2011 as the potential sites to host the first Polish NPP. Launch of site characterization works is planned to take place within 3 months upon conclusion of the contract. The contract allows for the investigation of up to four sites, providing for a situation where in the course of site characterization activities Żarnowiec and Choczewo sites are discovered to be unsuitable for hosting an NPP.

PGE EJ 1 Sp. z o.o. is also in charge of leading the procurement proceedings to select the reactor technology for the future plant.
