Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe has applied to the Pomeranian Voivode for a permit to carry out the second stage of preparatory works. In addition to the continuation of selected activities from the first stage, for which PEJ obtained a permit on 29 August 2025, the scope of work also includes, among other things, the preparation of technical infrastructure for the NPP construction.
We are continuing activities aimed at the most important moment in the delivery of our project, i.e. the pouring of the first nuclear concrete. The first stage of preparatory works will start already in autumn. We want to maintain the ambitious project schedule, which is why we have already applied for a permit for the second stage,” he added.
Marek Woszczyk, President of the Management Board of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe sp. z o.o.
The second stage of preparatory works will consist of the preparation of, among other things, the technical infrastructure for the construction site, including site preparation and construction of the foundation for long-term concrete batching plants, which will support the production of concrete in further phases of the project. The infrastructure will also include the construction of drinking water intake, raw water intake (for technical use) and sewage system. Ultimately, sewage from the site will be discharged to the designed treatment plant. The Company holds talks with the Choczewo Commune Office to hand over the facility once construction is completed. Lighting and electrical installations for the construction site will also be built.
As part of the second stage of preparatory works, land leveling and development of the construction site will also be carried out, along with the construction of temporary technical and welfare/office facilities, including warehouses, access roads and parking lots. A maintenance workshop for vehicles and construction equipment will also be built.
Along with the application for the permit, the Company has submitted a report on the project’s environmental impact reassessment for the second stage of preparatory works. PEJ thus fulfilled the condition of the General Director for Environmental Protection’s environmental decision of 19 September 2023 for the construction and operation of a nuclear power plant in the Choczewo commune.
