Another step towards the construction permit for the nuclear power plant

23.04.2025

Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) has concluded an agreement with the Head of the Pomeranian Voivodeship for perpetual usufruct of real estate located in the Choczewo commune, where the first nuclear power plant in Poland will be built. This is an important step in the process of obtaining the construction permit. The agreement gives PEJ the right to administer real estate covered by the location decision obtained in 2023 for construction purposes.

We are consistently achieving further milestones in the project, one of which is obtaining legal title to plots of land in the Choczewo commune. This is one of the conditions required before applying for a construction permit for the nuclear power plant in Lubiatowo-Kopalino.

This is another important step towards the delivery of Poland's first nuclear power plant. But above all, this is an important moment for Pomerania, which gains the opportunity for further infrastructural and economic development. The project will not only affect the country's energy security but will also become a stimulus for the development of the region, the creation of new jobs and the strengthening of the Polish energy sector.

The agreement on the transfer of real estate for perpetual usufruct to Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe was concluded on the basis of an application submitted to the Head of the Pomeranian Voivodeship on 26 July 2024. To date PEJ has obtained the environmental and location decisions for the project to build the first Nuclear Power Plant in Poland, which confirmed the possibility of the nuclear facility construction in this area and defined the territorial scope of the investment project on land and sea. This enabled the company to apply for the preparatory works permit.
