As of 22 February 2024, the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe sp. z o.o. appointed Mr Leszek Juchniewicz as a member of the Management Board and entrusted him with the duties of President of the Management Board.

Poland’s first nuclear power plant will safely produce electricity for at least 60 years. Managing the operation of such a facility requires advance preparation. To this end, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe started technical cooperation with the consortium of Finnish companies, Fortum and TVO Nuclear Services, which have experience in managing the first most advanced Generation III+ nuclear unit commissioned in Europe.

Public support for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Pomerania remains high

After PEJ obtained the environmental and location decisions and intensified the cooperation with the US Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium, the public support for the construction of a nuclear power plant remains high at 67% among residents of the Choczewo commune, which is the immediate vicinity of the area, where the plant is planned to be built. A similar level of support for the investment project (66%) was recorded in the region of the planned investment project, i.e. the Wejherowo, Puck and Lębork poviats. An opinion poll in the site region of Poland's first nuclear power plant was conducted in 2023 by the PBS research agency based in Sopot.

The "Supplier Day" event was attended by more than 150 representatives from 70 Polish companies operating in Pomerania. The main topics dicussed at this conference included the procurement process for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Poland and the requirements for companies interested in participating in this project. The second day of the event was dedicated to bilateral meetings of representatives of Polish contractors and suppliers with the Westinghouse-Bechtel consortium.

Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe obtained the Location Decision for the nuclear power plant in Pomerania

On 26 October, the Head of the Pomorskie Voivodeship informed about issuance of the Location Decision for the first nuclear power plant in Poland. It will be located in Pomerania, in the commune of Choczewo, at the "Lubiatowo-Kopalino" site. The Location Decision is one of the most important administrative decisions required to begin construction.

On October 24-25, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) in cooperation with Westinghouse Electric Company, Bechtel and the Chamber of Commerce for Energy and Environmental Protection (IGEOS) are organizing a two-day “Supplier Day” conference in Gdynia.
The event, under the honorary patronage of the Government Plenipotentiary for Strategic Energy Infrastructure, brought together some 70 companies from Pomerania interested in participating in the nuclear power plant project.

Engineering Services Contract for the first nuclear power plant in Poland

On 27 September, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) and the consortium of Westinghouse and Bechtel signed the Engineering Services Contract for the first nuclear power plant in Poland. Under the document, a design/engineering documentation for the first Polish nuclear power plant to be built in Pomerania will be developed together with experienced American partners.

We obtained the decision on environmental conditions for the first nuclear power plant in Poland

On 19 September 2023, the General Director for Environmental Protection issued the decision on environmental conditions for the first nuclear power plant, which will be built in Pomerania at the Lubiatowo-Kopalino site in the territory of the Choczewo commune.

The decision issued by the authority is a key permit obtained in the investment process, as subsequent administrative approvals, including the location decision and the construction permit, must be consistent with the terms and conditions contained in the decision on environmental conditions.
