PEJ with French support for nuclear power in Poland
"The letters of intent from the two French institutions is another sign of the growing interest in the Polish nuclear project. We are pleased to have attracted such experienced and reliable partners. We have been consistently pursuing our strategy of obtaining financing for the project and we have been expanding the number of leading entities financing the nuclear sector that cooperate with us,” said PEJ Vice President Piotr Piela.
Bpifrance Assurance Export is the French export credit agency that covers export credits with its guarantees. Sfil is the French public development bank refinancing French export credits from commercial banks to finance the export of French goods and services. The mission of both institutions is to support and promote French trade (e.g., Bpifrance guarantees the financing provided by Sfil and commercial banks).
The close cooperation with foreign lenders is an important element of PEJ’s strategy to ensure financing of the company’s investment projects and to build relationships with suppliers from countries with extensive nuclear supply chains. The goal is to maximize the share of export credit agencies in the debt financing structure of the project.
Based on the letters of intent received so far, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe have gathered declarations of financial commitment for a total equivalent of more than 95 billion zlotys.
