Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) have received an opinion from the President of the National Atomic Energy Agency (PAA) on the safety system classification methodology. The document is important for ensuring nuclear safety.

On 28 August 2024, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) submitted an application to the Head of Pomorskie Voivodeship for a permit for starting preparatory works required for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant. The Company’s planned activities include securing the site for future construction and surveying.

As of 1 July 2024, the Extraordinary General Meeting of Shareholders of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe sp. z o.o. appointed Mr. Leszek Juchniewicz President of the Management Board.

Management of the company’s key business processes has been based on specialized tools offered by SAP S/4HANA, an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software suite. The complet-ed implementation of selected functionalities in the areas of asset, finance and human resources management provides a stable foundation for conducting Poland’s most im-portant investment project.

Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe inform that regardless of the ongoing geological works, related to the nuclear power plant design, they have taken into account the voices of the residents of the Pomeranian region and decided to keep the forest road to the beach in Słajszewo accessible to tourists and residents during the upcoming tourist season.

Under the Engineering Services Contract (ESC) signed by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe with the consortium of Westinghouse and Bechtel, Bechtel Polska company is starting an in-depth geological survey at the site of Poland’s first nuclear power plant in Choczewo commune in Pomerania. The area designated for the survey has been properly prepared, and the so-called mobilization, that is setting up of lab facilities, will last until the end of April. The surveys will start in May.

The document obtained by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe enables the commencement of in-depth geological surveys on the site of the first nuclear power plant in Poland. The decision issued by the Ministry of Climate and Environment confirms that the Geological Works Plan submitted by PEJ meets the requirements for this type of investment projects and complies with applicable laws. This is another important task accomplished in the permitting process of the entire project.

The Extraordinary General Meeting of PEJ Shareholders decided to appoint Mr. Piotr Piela as Vice President of the Management Board, effective 8 April 2024.

The cooperation between the investor responsible for the construction of Poland's first nuclear power plant and the country's largest mutual insurance association is an important step toward providing insurance coverage for this key project for the energy sector.
