On 28 August 2024, Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe (PEJ) submitted an application to the Head of Pomorskie Voivodeship for a permit for starting preparatory works required for the construction of Poland’s first nuclear power plant. The Company’s planned activities include securing the site for future construction and surveying.

Under the Engineering Services Contract (ESC) signed by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe with the consortium of Westinghouse and Bechtel, Bechtel Polska company is starting an in-depth geological survey at the site of Poland’s first nuclear power plant in Choczewo commune in Pomerania. The area designated for the survey has been properly prepared, and the so-called mobilization, that is setting up of lab facilities, will last until the end of April. The surveys will start in May.

The document obtained by Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe enables the commencement of in-depth geological surveys on the site of the first nuclear power plant in Poland. The decision issued by the Ministry of Climate and Environment confirms that the Geological Works Plan submitted by PEJ meets the requirements for this type of investment projects and complies with applicable laws. This is another important task accomplished in the permitting process of the entire project.
