Social Initiatives Support Program
The Social Initiatives Support Program (PWIS) is a program implemented as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe.
The Program aims to:
• To build broad social acceptance for nuclear energy and the investment program implemented by the Company.
• To support the implementation of local initiatives, both from municipalities and other stakeholders operating in the given region.
• To disseminate knowledge, including, among others, topics broadly related to nuclear energy.
PWIS is an initiative addressed to local government units located within the territorial area covered by the Program, as well as organizations or entities, with or without legal personality, that operate in this area.
Within the Program, support can be obtained for implementing projects in the following areas:
• Science and Education: educational activities and programs, competitions in science, education, schooling, and upbringing, including those related to the broad topic of nuclear energy, such as industry events concerning nuclear energy.
• Environmental Protection: activities and active forms of work aimed at environmental protection, involving children, youth, and the local community, shaping attitudes, and building ecological awareness.
• Tourism: support for the region’s tourism promotion, activities for educating the tourism sector/community.
• Safety: actions increasing safety in terms of health, fire safety and occupational hygiene, public safety, supporting health and rescue services.
• Local Infrastructure: creation of publicly accessible infrastructure for the community that will foster development and improve the living conditions of the given community.
• Social and Charitable Initiatives: activities, programs by organizations and institutions supporting people in difficult life situations, people with disabilities, the elderly, those requiring permanent or temporary care, and actions benefiting the local community.
• Culture: cultural initiatives and events aimed at maintaining national traditions and caring for historical monuments and cultural assets.
• Sport: support for amateur sports through sports education programs, promoting physical activity among children and youth, including creating conditions for active participation in sports.
Submitted initiatives are evaluated by the Sustainability Committee, composed of representatives of the Company, whose task is to review and recommend to the Management Board of Polskie Elektrownie Jądrowe those projects that meet the formal requirements and the Program’s objectives.
